Questions about security

How to prevent phishing attacks?

1. What is a phishing attack?

Phishing is a type of social engineering attack – a fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information such as username, password, 2FA code. By imitating ETHERSMART.ORG in an electronic communication. Fake “trusted” parties often deceive users through:

  • Email spoofing;
  • Fake ETHERSMART site;
  • Instant message with malicious link;
  • Social websites with manipulated ETHERSMART link;
  • Chat with impersonated ETHERSMART support;
  • Fake ETHERSMART hotline or support in a search engine;
  • Social Media Fake Accounts;
  • Malware downloaded from the internet;
  • Free WIFI Phishing;

2. Phishing attack protection; The most important and weakest aspect of a security system is the people themselves. Hence, for users, vigilance is the key:

  • A spoofed message often contains subtle mistakes such as spelling mistakes, strange syntax, unsmooth words, misspelled domain names. For instance, www.ETHERSMART-co.com.
  • Besides, attackers usually try to push users into action by creating a sense of urgency. For example, an email could be about account expiration and urge the reader to click a link within a timeline; or a message instructed users to move assets to a secure wallet to avoid loss as soon as possible.

Phishing attack protection requires steps to be taken by both users and ETHERSMART.ORG.

  • Always upgrade Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to the latest version. Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox warn users about phishing or unsafe high-risk website.
  • The safest way to login to ETHERSMART Exchange is through the website: Ethersmart.org or http://ethersmart.org/
  • For IT professionals, it is recommended to verify the SSL domain name is *.Ethersmart.org
  • Enable Two-factor authentication(2FA) verification, such as Google 2FA or SMS 2FA. Keep cautious and not disclose Google 2FA 16 digital back key to anyone or any website. If username and password were compromised,2FA prevents the use of compromised credentials, since these alone are insufficient to gain entry.

Install Chrome Netcraft Extention or Firefox Netcraft Anit-Phishing Extension.

  •      Chrome Netcraft Extension
  •      Firefox Netcraft Anit-Phishing Extension
  •      Keep your systems /applications updated to avoid the security bugs, install the anti-virus software, and keep it up to date.
  •      Do not connect to an untrusted wireless network.

3. Reporting Phishing: Please report to us any ETHERSMART phishing sites you meet to [email protected]

Anti-virus & Trojan Guideline

To prevent your computer from being attacked or your data from being stolen, it is recommended for you to be cautious and take your computer security seriously. Other than installing a good anti-virus program, we suggest our users follow 3 simple practices below to help protect and secure their system.

  •      Using Security mode or incognito/private tab to browse the ETHERSMART site. The security mode turns off any plug-in/extensions in the browser and protects users from people tracking their online activities on the computer they’re using. Here are the shortcuts for different browsers:

· Chrome & Safari: Control/⌘ + Shift + N

· Firefox & Internet Explorer: Control/⌘ + Shift + P

  •      Double-check the address you’re going to use. Make sure to keep the addresses in a safe place, like Notepad, then copy/paste it to the browser. After that, check one more time to see if the address you paste is the same as the one in Notepad or not.
  •      Download and install ETHERSMART Exchange APP to your mobile phone, then check the consistency of addresses between the app and the browser; If the addresses are not consistent, your computer may have been infected by the Trojan virus or malware.

Here are some further steps to tackle the virus attack:

  • Install anti-virus software to scan/kill Trojan and viruses as soon as possible;
  • Disable all plug-in/extensions in the web browser; uninstall unknown software in the computer;
  • Seek help from IT and security expert; · In extreme risk cases, format the disk and reinstall the operating system in the computer;
  • Under extreme risk situation, shall format the hard disk and reinstall OS in the computer;

All about payments and conditions

  • Always double check your wallet for corrections.
  • Carefully check the amount that you want to send.
  • Ethersmart only accepts USDT-ERC20 type. Do not send USDT-Omni, USDT-TRC20, or your fund will be lost.

Missing Deposit

The exchange which I sent shows that my transaction was completed, why haven’t I received anything on ETHERSMART?

A withdrawal marked as “completed” or “success” on an exchange does not mean that the transaction has been fully processed to the destination exchange – it merely means that the transaction was successfully posted to the Blockchain. Once a transaction is on the Blockchain, it will still take a variable amount of time to confirm and post to the destination exchange. Different blockchains require different amounts of “confirmations” before a transaction is verified. It is not uncommon for a blockchain to be congested with many transactions, causing unexpected/unusual delays in processing your transaction. You may use the transaction ID (TxID) to follow the status on the Blockchain.

  • If your transaction shows “unconfirmed” on its Blockchain, this is beyond our control. It would be best if you waited for the transaction to be processed on the Blockchain. Once it is included in the Blockchain, it begins to produce confirmations.
  • For Bitcoin and Bitcoin-based projects, your transaction should arrive on ETHERSMART by 2 confirmations. For Ethereum and most other projects (quicker to confirm), it should arrive by 30 confirmations.
  • If you have sent to ETHERSMART from another exchange but did not receive a TxID, please contact the customer service of that exchange.

Note: If the transaction is confirmed by Blockchain but not been credited to your ETHERSMART account, please submit a support request to [email protected] and attach:

  • Blockchain explorer screenshot with the confirmed transaction;
  • Your account balances Screenshot missed the transaction;

We’ll try best to solve it as soon as possible. By the way, priority would be low if tickets do not include screenshots.

How do I check the transaction status on the Bitcoin blockchain?

  • On btc.com, copy-paste your transaction ID (also known as a transaction hash/TxID) to the box outlined in red and perform a search: Typically, Bitcoin transactions are verified and deposited into ETHERSMART after 2 confirmations but may take up to 6 in certain situations.

How do I check the transaction status on the Ethereum blockchain (including ERC20 projects)?

  • On etherscan.io, copy-paste your transaction ID (also known as a transaction hash/TxID) to the box outlined in red and perform a search: Typically, Ethereum-based transactions are verified and deposited into ETHERSMART after 30 confirmations but may take up to 60 in certain situations.

Deposit to a wrong address

If you wanted to deposit from another wallet to the ETHERSMART wallet, but you sent your coins to the wrong address (not ETHERSMART address), in this case, ETHERSMART did not receive these coins.

We also do not know who controls those addresses and have no means of recovering those coins.

If you know whose that address was, we recommend that you should contact the owner of the targeted address to negotiate your coins back.

How to withdraw?

1. Login to your Ethersmart account. 2. In the Exchange tab, you can see 6 cryptos wallet. BTC, ETH, XRP, BNB, USDT, and ETM. 3. Choose your desired cryptos and click on the “Withdraw” button. 4. Fill in:

  •  Your withdrawal wallet.
  •  Withdraw amount.
  •  Google Authenticator Code.
  • Then click “Withdraw”

5. Check for your withdrawal information in the “History” tab.

NOTE:

  • Check if you choose the right asset to withdraw.
  • Always double check your wallet address for corrections.
  • Carefully check the amount that you want to withdraw.
  • Ethersmart only accepts USDT-ERC20 type. Do not withdraw to USDT-Omni, USDT-TRC20, or your fund will be lost.
  • Withdrawal may take up to 72 hours to arrive due to blockchain traffic.

Missing Withdrawals

I made a transaction from ETHERSMART to another Exchange/Wallet, but I haven’t received my funds yet. Why?  If you encounter an issue where your withdrawal is missing, please check the corresponding information on the [History] tab. Usually, a TxID will be generated within 30 to 60 minutes, indicating that ETHERSMART has begun the transfer on the corresponding blockchain. When you see the TxID, please click on “Check” to the right of the TxID to check its status and confirmations on the blockchain. Here are the steps to follow when checking the confirmations:

  • If the blockchain showed that the transaction has not yet been confirmed, please be patient and wait for the confirmation process to complete.
  • If the blockchain showed that the transaction is already confirmed, which means that ETHERSMART has transferred coins successfully and cannot do anything to help you. If you still had issues, please negotiate with the owner of the destination address.
  • If a TxID has not been generated for 6 hours yet after clicking withdrawal, please notify us via [email protected] and provide:
  • A screenshot of the withdrawal history with the transaction.
  • Your withdrawal address.

We will work to identify and solve the underlying issue, so you have a consistent and error-free ETHERSMART experience. Please keep in mind that we give higher priority to tickets with error screenshots.

Withdraw to a wrong address

ETHERSMART starts the withdrawal process as soon as you choose to withdraw your coin.

Unfortunately, there is no way to stop this once initiated. Due to the anonymity of the blockchain, ETHERSMART is also unable to locate where your funds have been sent.

If you have sent your coins to the wrong address by mistake, please use other means to try and locate and/or contact the recipient of your funds.

If you have withdrawn your funds to another exchange with an incorrect or empty tag/required description, please contact the receiving exchange with your TxID to organize the return of your funds.

Remember, always double-check your withdrawal address before submitting the withdrawal.
